Landscape engineering of down-stream Puzih River and Bajhang River 

1. Since we promoted environmental protection action and conducted inspection to control the source of pollution, the water quality of certain rivers has been improved. Therefore, we worked with the supervising authority to carry out the landscape engineering of rivers in order to offer water spaces of rivers to enable citizens to better know the rivers and monitor the change of the water quality of the rivers to verify and destroy the source of pollution.
2. This County is dedicated to promoting the landscape engineering of Jhuci Section of Puzih River, areas along the downRiver coast (e.g. Chuanzihtou Section) and Jhongyi Bridge Section of Bajhang River, Greenland, wetland conservation areas, and bird viewing areas, in order to meet the citizens’ need for recreation.
3. We are building Puzih River ecological park now.

To strengthen inspection against various sources of pollution

1. Conducting inspection of certain controlled entities of sources of water and air pollution to force them to operate and maintain pollution prevention facilities properly.
2. Conducting inspection against controlled enterprises and entities published by phase.
3. Controlled enterprises and entities shall establish pollution prevention facilities and apply for a permit for discharge pursuant to the relevant requirements, and report the record for operation and maintenance periodically.
4. Establishing environmental protection hot line to handle citizens’ complaints about environmental pollution (air, water, wasted articles, and noise, etc.), and sending specialized personnel to take care of the cases.
5. Raising the funds for environmental pollution to apply it to pollution prevention and correction actions.
6. Controlling the inspection of emissions of motorcycles and vehicles to urge owners of the motorcycles and vehicles to adjust and maintain the emission to prevent air pollution.
7. Handling the applications of controlled air and water pollution enterprises for permits for discharge.

Inspection and controlling of waste articles of enterprises and medical treatment

•  Waste articles of enterprises:
  Controlling all enterprises situated in this County according to the order of type of business, type of waste articles and production scale, and guiding the establishment of legal private sanitary landfills to process the enterprises’ waste articles.
•  Medical treatment waste articles:
  Considering that infectious waste articles produced by medical treatment institutions are likely to spread diseases if they are not processed properly, we control all of the medical treatment institutions in this County and guide the medical association to establish the “Committee for Processing of Wasted Medical Treatment Articles In the Territory of Chiayi” and incinerators to take care of the wasted medical treatment articles.

Cleaning of core roads and coasts, and dredging of drainage

　　In order to strengthen the environmental cleaning of this County’s core roads, this Bureau applied for budget with its supervisory authority to establish the “mobile cleaning unit” to maintain Tai Highway No. 1, Tai Highway No. 3, Tai Highway No. 19 and the 12 core roads including Jiapu Road, Alishan Highway, CCU access road, Rongdian Road in its jurisdiction.
　　Assisting the various township (city) offices to carry out dredging of the drainage and to remedy the aftermath of floods suffered by communities from typhoons and downpours.

Promotional activity for reduction of garbage and recycling

　　In order to reduce garbage, carry out recycling and cope with the operation of this County’s incinerators, this Bureau guided the various township (city) offices and authorities/schools to carry out the reduction of garbage and recycling comprehensively, and also encouraged citizens to participate in the action to decrease the cost for processing garbage and prolong the service life of incinerators.
